Tasers – Real Life vs. White Slave Act of 2000 universe.

Zap!
Zap!

I’m aware that Tasers don’t work, in the real world, like I have them working in my stories.  However, the “Civilian” versions come close, in that they incapacitate for longer than police versions.  I’m assuming that in the WSA2000 universe, Axon has found a way to make the “neuromuscular incapacitation” effect last longer.  Likewise, I’m aware that there isn’t a “zap again” button on most models.   Furthermore, I’m aware that “drive stun” mode isn’t on most models anymore, as it’s considered “torture” by the UN and is banned in many countries.  That’s a feature, not a bug, in the WSA2000 universe!

Normally, tasers fire 2 darts, and they must land at least 4 inches (ca. 10 cm) apart for the effect to happen.  I’m assuming my version of the “Taser 10” is actually a “Taser 20” and fires 2 darts per pull of the trigger, with enough spread to land that distance apart but not enough to make the spread result in a miss at 45 feet (ca. 14 m).

And while I’m at it, I’m aware that it’s almost impossible to kill someone with a shock generated by a battery, no matter how big of a capacitor you charge up. At least when applied to the back of the neck. So, lethal collars aren’t really a thing, either.  I’m assuming a break through in battery technology, where many more amp-hours can be held in a smaller package.  A side effect of this would be that electric vehicles would be more common than they are IRL, something that I may or may not mention in stories.
